Professor Kevin Edge

FREng, BSc, PhD, DSc, CEng, FIMechE

Professor Edge was appointed to a Personal Chair in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath in 1991 and became Deputy Director of the Centre for Power Transmission and Motion Control (PTMC) in 1993.

In 1997 he was appointed Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and served two terms of office covering six years. He was responsible for the 2001 RAE submission for the Department, leading to the award of the highest possible rating (5*A).

Professor Edge took up the post of Deputy Vice-Chancellor on 1 August 2008 after holding the post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) for five years.

He has published extensively and has received various awards for publications in the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. In 1990 he received the Joseph Bramah Medal from the IMechE and was elected to the Fellowship of The Royal Academy of Engineering in 2003.
