Help save the planet for your future
Find out how the University estates department is working towards a sustainable future.
The student switch off
University accommodation contributes 2000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
We are taking part in the national student switch off campaign to reduce our carbon footprint and its contribution to climate change.
The competition
The student switch off competition is held between all residences.
- electricity usage is measured in each of the main accommodation blocks
- we compare measurments to a baseline target
- results will be regularly published here
- there will be 2 overall winners, one on-campus and one off-campus, for the block that has saved the most by the end of the summer term
Which block has won the 2012-13 competition?
- see the graphs showing electricity usage for October 2012 - March 2013
