Respecting the community

Being part of the University means belonging to the local community. Be considerate to your neighbours and the locals by minimising noise, particularly at night, and responding to requests for quiet.

Remember, your neighbours may keep different hours to you, have exams or young children, so be as thoughtful as possible. That way, you’ll avoid living up to the clichés and giving the University, and students in general, a bad name.

How to be a good neighbour

  • introduce yourself to your neighbours and make the effort to get along with them
  • let your neighbours know if you’re having a group of friends round
  • when coming home late, don’t slam doors and keep your voice down
  • don't damage or trespass on private property (for example the golf course next to the campus).

The Student Community Partnership works with locals, the Police, landlords and local organisations to improve relations between students and the community.

For useful information while living in Bath read their Being a Good Neighbour Booklet. You can raise any issues with them by calling the Action Line on 01225 396996.
