Moving out
When you leave your room, you need to follow the correct procedure to avoid incurring charges.
These guidelines are for students who are leaving at the end of their contract. If you wish to move out before the end of your contract please read the information on leaving your contract early.
Guidelines for moving out of residences
- Tell the Accommodation Centre and Student Accommodation Office when you’re leaving
- Check all the inventory items that came with the room are present
- Clean and vacuum the room
- Follow the departure checklist provided by the operations team
- Lock the door as you leave
- Return your key/card to the Accommodation Centre. If the centre is closed, seal the key/card in an envelope marked with your block/room number and post it through the letterbox. Charges will be made for non-return of keys, and you will be liable for loss of rent on your room
- Remove all personal effects from communal areas. Anything left will be disposed of if not collected within five days of email notification
- Leave all areas in a satisfactory condition. A minimum charge of £50 per person will be applied if rooms and communal areas are not left clean and tidy
- Once you’ve left, all post will be returned to sender, so please ensure you update your address details before you go
- Dispose of waste and recycle responsibly when you leave: read news about the recent Moving Out campaign for details of Bath’s recycling and waste disposal services
