BaleHaus @ Bath
The BaleHaus @ Bath, a low energy pre-fabricated straw bale house, has been built on campus as part of a Technology Strategy Board funded research project led by the BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials (CICM) in the Dept. Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Over the next 12 months researchers at the BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials will be monitoring and modelling the energy efficiency of the house to improve our understanding of building with renewable materials such a straw and hemp.
The research project is a collaboration between seven partners, including White Design architects, Integral Structural Design and the Centre for Window & Cladding Technology.
