Information for Current BEng Civil Eng, MEng Civil Eng, and MEng Civil & Arch Eng Students

Links from these pages contain information on placements and potential employers for your placement, as well as organisations you may want to join as a student member.

Student Handbook

This contains full information about your course and other administrative issues and regulations. It has two sections. Section One contains programme specific information, depending on what year you began your studies; Section Two contains more general information about your studies, assessment regulations, student support and the department. Links to the handbooks can be found here:

Handbook Section One (programme specific information):

For students beginning their studies before 2008/9
For students beginning their studies in 2008/9
For students beginning their studies in 2009/10

For students beginning their studies in 2010/11

Handbook Section Two

For all students

For students beginning their studies in 2011/12 the information is combined into one handbook

It is important you read and refer to both throughout your course. As a student here you are expected to have read these documents.

All coursework you hand into the office must be clearly marked with your name, student number, course/year, unit code/title and date. You should also keep a copy of any work you hand in. Loose sheets of paper will not be accepted and all coursework should be stapled or bound into a single document. There is no stapler available at the departmental office for student use.

Authorship declaration

All undergraduate and taught MSc students are required to complete an Authorship declaration EACH year. This will be emailed to all students in October. A signed copy of the form must be handed in to the Department office by 30 October. Work cannot be assessed until this form has been completed. Students who return from suspense in Semester 2 will be given a form to complete in January. This must be handed in to Department Office by the end of February.
The Authorship form can be accessed here.

Other important information can be found by clicking on More... in the left menu.

Civil Engineering students can spend one semester studying overseas during their degree programme. In recent years Bath students have spent a semester studying at the Danish Technical University (DTU) in Copenhagen and at the University of Technology, Sydney. For MEng students the second semester in their penultimate study year has proven the most suitable time to undertake the visit. Prior to submitting an application, and for further information, all students should at first discuss this further with Andrew Heath.
