Welcome to the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering Internal Website

Links to this section of the website are only visible if you are within the University of Bath's network.

Here you will find all the administrative forms, documents, and information relating to your studies. Note that course work is now available on the Learning Materials Filestore (LMF) or on Moodle.  Speak to your tutors for further information on each course. Handing in coursework

All coursework must be submitted to the Undergraduate Office.  You are required to download the correct front cover sheet from SAMIS and attach it securely to your work. You should keep a copy of any work you hand in.  Loose sheets of paper will not be accepted and all coursework should be stapled or bound into a single document. There is no stapler available at the departmental office for student use.

For group coursework submissions via the Undergraduate Office please contact the Undergraduate Programmes Manager in advance to discuss the process.

ACE computer room (5E1.13) in Founders Hall (Sports Hall)

Opening hours: Monday - Friday 07:00 - 22:00; Saturday and Sunday 09:00 - 17:00.

Access to the building is via the entrance near the student union on L2, or via the doors on L1 adjacent to the climbing wall. The entrance is through the unpainted door to the right of the foot of the stairs. To access the room, a proximity card reader as used in the library is mounted on the wall next to the door. To exit the room, push the steel 'Exit Room' button mounted next to the door.

The room contains approximately 40 machines reserved for the sole use of the Department's students. These machines include specialist Department software such as CAD software, 3D modelling software and engineering applications. They are closely integrated to printing facilities which offer relatively cheap printing. Do NOT leave papers, drawings, etc., in the room overnight and expect them to be there in the morning as porters have been asked to remove ALL rubbish left in the room every morning. Absolutely no eating or drinking is allowed.

The room can be used any time during opening hours unless there is teaching going on.

Print room in 6 East (6E 3.2)

This has 10 PCs and is intended for viewing files before printing only, NOT for working on.

Printers include a pair of high quality, high speed A0 capacity plotters, a fast B/W A3/A4 laser printer and a high quality colour A3/A4 laser printer.

Students are required to pay for their printing in advance by cheque. Charges are designed to cover our fixed and running costs. They are broadly equivalent to those of the Library (if not lower) and are considerably lower than those of commercial printers. For assistance with computing facilities, contact the department IT supporter using the online form.

Lab use

The labs will be closed for two one week periods for maintenance - dates to be confirmed.  Final Year Dissertation students will be carrying out their work from January-early April.  During these periods all work in the labs (excluding the timber workshop) and work outside the labs requiring technician support will normally not be possible.  However, for 2009/10 any material tests already programmed AND specimens prepared (i.e. 3 month, 6 month, 12 month tests) for these dates will be permitted.  This is to ensure labs get essential time to clean up and maintain and repair equipment and should result in smoother and more efficient working of the labs for all concerned.

If you would like to submit images for consideration for display on these pages, e-mail them to the Department Co-ordinator. These should be square, 851px by 851px and low resolution (72dpi).  Images to be placed on the website must be connected to work or research carried out within or in association with the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering.  Pictures that appear in the centre of the home page should be visually appealing, inspiring and their connection to architecture, civil engineering, construction and design in general should be easily read.

If there is anything missing, please e-mail the Department Coordinator.
