Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering

Visiting Professor honoured by RIBA

Visiting Professor Doug King has received a lifetime Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). RIBA awarded 14 such Honorary Fellowships this year to outstanding representatives from a range of professions, each of whom plays a profound part in influencing great architecture.

The list of awardees may be found on the RIBA website.

Professor Tim Ibell, Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering added 'Doug King has a rare talent as a designer of the built environment, and he has won many awards for his innovation, including the RAEng Silver Medal earlier this year. As a building physicist, RIBA have quite rightly recognised Doug for the profound influence which his talent has on the quality and sustainability of our built environment. This is a terrific accolade for Doug and for our Department.'

Doug joins Michael Dickson as the second engineering-focused Visiting Professor in ACE to hold HonFRIBA.
