Graduate wins 2012 RIBA Boyd Auger scholarship

We are delighted to announce that Jo Ashbridge, BSc Architecture graduate, has won the 2012 RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship, worth £5,000.

Jo’s project, titled ‘The role of Each Architecture and Construction within a Disaster Risk Reduction Framework for Areas at Risk of Flooding Across Bangladesh’, impressed the judges of the top prize, which was established in 2008 in memory of Boyd Auger.

Jo said: - ‘I am delighted to have been awarded the 2012 RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship… my passion and future career direction is to focus on development and disaster relief architecture.’

Jo is now able to start a 12-month research project on housing and disaster relief in flood-prone Bangladesh.John-Paul Nunes, RIBA Head of Education Projects, commented: ‘We are delighted to award her [Jo Ashbridge] the scholarship and look forward to seeing how this unique project progresses.’

Martin Gledhill, Director of Studies for the BSc Architecture courses at the University of Bath, stated that he was delighted with the success Jo had achieved by winning the 2012 RIBA Boyd Auger award and wished Jo further success for her future research projects.
