ACE research presented at international conference on non-conventional materials
The latest results of ongoing research on the development of bamboo engineered panels at the University of Bath were presented at the 14th international conference on non-conventional materials (IC-NOCMAT). The conference was held at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) in João Pessoa, Brazil, between 24 and 27 March 2013.
Hector Archila, a PhD researcher at the BRE Centre for Innovative Construction Materials (BRE-CICM) within the University, delivered an oral presentation of these results to an international audience. The presentation was awarded as one of the best during the closing ceremony of the event.
The paper presented, ‘ Characterization of thermo-hydro-mechanically modified bamboo (Guadua angustifolia Kunth) for structural cross laminated panels' will be published in the conference proceedings book and in the Key Engineering Materials Journal online.
Hector’s research on bamboo has introduced an international audience to BRE-CICM’s research on innovative and sustainable construction materials and technologies. This opportunity has been possible thanks to the sponsorship provided by the Worshipful Company of Armours and Brasiers and the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath.
