Profile

Mark Evernden is a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Mark’s teaching interests focus on the development of key structural engineering concepts whilst advocating the appropriate use of materials. His research is in the area of advanced composite materials, specializing in wholly polymeric structures, their connections and durability.

Mark Evernden graduated with a First Class MEng Hons degree in Civil Engineering in 1998. After completing a PhD in advanced composite structures at the University in Warwick in 2006, he taught as a teaching fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at Warwick. Mark joined the Department in 2007.

Research

His research studies are on the fundamental physical, practical and ideological aspects of the application of Pultruded Fibre Reinforced Polymer (PFRP) construction systems in civil engineering. With a strong experimental and analytical interest in the structural behaviour of full polymeric composite structures, connection methods suitable for PFRP’s and the development of insitu-structural health monitoring systems. His present research also covers a broader range of topics from fungal growth and biological degradation of materials to social and political influences upon the house construction industry.
