Civil engineering applicant visit days

We run visit days for our undergraduate degree offer holders between February and April. Find out why you should attend one.

After you receive an offer to study one of our undergraduate courses, we'll email you to invite you to one of our applicant visit days.

We offer you a choice of dates where you can visit us in person on a campus-based day or join us online for an interactive virtual event. We usually run these between February and April. You will be able to choose which day you would like to attend, but it's best to book early as dates can fill up fast. Your email will include all the information you need about traveling here, accessibility and eating requirements.

Gain better insight into your course

The aim of the day is to help you in your decision making.

Attending one of our days is a chance to learn more about our courses and what studying at Bath will be like.

If you visit us in person, you'll meet our staff, students, and alumni. We'll also show you around our department and the facilities you'll be using on your degree. You will see the design spaces where our students develop their project work and laboratories where they get hands-on experience in engineering through experiments and demonstrations. You'll hear from one of our graduates, who will share what it's like to pursue a career in civil engineering.

You'll also have the opportunity to take part in a mini-project alongside current students. Working in a small group, you will rapidly generate creative proposals for a small building in an interesting setting. This will give you a taste of how sophisticated engineers work closely with architects and other professionals to produce new ideas.

Why you should come to an Applicant Visit Day

What you can expect from the day.

Get a feel for campus and city life

Explore our campus and take the opportunity to visit the city after your day with us.

While you're here, you can book one of our campus tours or take a self-guided tour around campus. This is a great chance to see what the University is like on a typical day and experience the atmosphere of students and staff going about their business.

Campus life isn't just about studying, and there are many ways that you can make the most of your university experience. We'll provide you with a map so you can visit our Sports Training Village (STV), where you'll have access to the same facilities used by Olympic athletes. You can see our Students' Union, which houses the Student Centre, food outlets, and the campus pub and nightclub. You can also visit The Edge, our arts centre, where you can take dance, art and music classes.

After your day has finished with us, you could use the opportunity to visit the city of Bath, which is only 10 minutes away by bus.

Are you unable to attend an open day?

We offer a range of dates so you can choose to attend one that best suits you.

If you don't live in the UK, we understand that it may be difficult to visit the University on the dates given. This is why we also offer an Applicant Visit Day online event so you can still experience our Department, our course, and our community.

If you can't attend an in-person day but plan to be in Bath on another date, please contact our Department and we'll do our best to arrange an individual visit for you.
