Ali Tokmen (Zürich)
Computer Science 2005 -Visiting student

Ali joined the Computer Science department of the University of Bath as an ERASMUS student in the 2004 - 2005 academic year and kept close links with ever since. A couple years after going back in France, Ali joined one of the major reinsurance companies in Switzerland in 2011. Being an IT Application Manager, Ali's professional interests are around operational excellence in or towards ITIL-compliant environments, out or co-sourcing models and user experience related topics.

As part of the Zürich Alumni, Ali often participates in the socializing events around dinners and also to hikes across the Swiss Alps. He speaks English, French, Spanish, Turkish and is progressing in German, so feel free to get in touch with regards to such organizations, cultural exchanges or professional advice.

Cary Adams (Geneva)

Cary Adams

Born in London, Cary Adams has a BSc Honours degree in Economics, Computing and Statistics from the University of Bath, United Kingdom and a Masters degree (with Distinction) in Business Administration. He is a Harvard Business School Alumni having attended the School’s Executive General Management programme in 2003. In 2009, Cary made a career change, moving from the management of international businesses in the banking sector to become the CEO of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), based in Geneva. UICC is the largest international cancer NGO of its kind, with more than 400 member organisations represented in over 120 countries. UICC arranges on behalf of its membership World Cancer Day on 4th February every year, the bi-annual World Cancer Congress and the annual World Cancer Leader’s Summit. It also produces the International Journal of Cancer and the TNM manual. Cary and his team focus on global advocacy to deliver the World Cancer Declaration 2020 targets, they run significant global programmes addressing key cancer issues and use their membership reach to bring about the exchange of best practice globally.

Daniel Süess (Zürich)
BSc Economics 1979

Daniel Suess

Educated in England, Daniel Süess has a BSc Honours degree in Economics from the University of Bath and is a Chartered Insurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute, England. Following graduation in 1979 Daniel returned to his native Switzerland to complete his national service and take up an international marketing position with Swiss Re in Zürich, with the clear intention to return to the UK after a few years initial work experience. 30 years later he still has not managed to get himself back to the UK! Twenty years with Swiss Re mostly working for and in South East Asian markets, was followed by two years with XL Insurance. Looking for a change, Daniel then worked two years for a financial services start up company in Winterthur developing and building a pan-European individualised group pension administration system. Since 2005 Daniel has been a member of the Zurich Insurance Group reinsurance management team, first responsible for the Zurich Group’s affiliated reinsurance business from Latin America and today from Middle East and Africa.
