Omar Shams

Omar Mohammed Shams Omar is the Director of Human resources at Dubai Petroleum. An Engineer by profession, Omar has spent his career in the oil and gas industry where he has led various disciplines ranging from Engineering to Operations, Maintenance and now Human Resources.

His ability to adapt to management demands of various disciplines has made him versatile to his employers making him equally at home managing strategy or planning shutdowns of complex hydrocarbon processing plants.

Omar graduated from the University of Bath in the UK with a PhD in Combustion Engineering in 1991.

Whilst studying for his Degrees at Bath University, Omar was awarded his sporting Colours for “Services to Sport” and for “Hockey”.

Niall Horan

Image of Niall HoranNiall Horan is a Drilling Engineering Specialist in High Pressure/High Temperature and/or deepwater drilling, particularly remote location exploration.

He has worked for 8yrs as a freelance consultant specialising in the above, having worked in Qatar, Nigeria, S.America, Norway, Gabon and currently in Iraq. He has drilled some of the highest pressure and deepest water wells in the world. 

Niall previously worked for 10yrs as a staff engineer for Shell in Netherlands, Gabon, UK and Brunei.

He is also a scuba diving instructor and a boating instructor, and currently lives in Dubai, where he has been for 6yrs with his family.

Samia Al Farra
EdD Education 2007

Dr Samia Al FarraDr Samia Al Farra has been the Chief Education Officer of Taaleem Management Group for the last five year. She was the Principal of Amman Baccalaureate School since 1991, which is the first school to offer the IB system in the region.  She also served at Al Bayan School in Kuwait in a variety of positions for 13 years and ultimately as a director. She has served as a chairwoman on many school committees.  She was a member of the Jordan Ministry of Education Council for 13 years. Samia served as a member of the International Baccalaureate Academic Committee from 1997 - 2003, served on the Head of Schools Committee for 6 years and was a member of the IB Council of Foundation.  In 1995 she was awarded by the ECIS for her role in highlighting and promoting International Education.  She is the founding member of the Middle East International Baccalaureate Association (MEIBA), which she was president of for 7 years. She received her Doctorate in Education through Bath University, UK. 

Samia has been serving as an elected for the IBO's Regional Heads Representatives Committee for Africa/Europe and Middle East for the last 4 years.  She served as a keynote speaker on many international conferences on International Education. Samia has also chaired and co-chaired accreditation visits for The Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Samia has been awarded the "Life Time Achievement Award" as part of the seventh edition of the Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) the Middle East's largest education exhibition and conference in 2014.
