NYC: the Bath takeover

our honest foodLast year, Bath grads Charles Arnold, Giles Mitchell and Joe Seager had an idea: Our Honest Foods. They set up a company. They started trading. But they needed help – so they entered the Student Business Plan Competition. The prize? A trip to New York.

Accompanied by the alumni relations team, they spent a week in NYC, meeting US Bath grads: CMOs, venture capitalists, engineers, MBAs, food experts, marketing experts, leaders in their field, and young grads just starting out.

“It was a money-can’t-buy-experience,” says Giles, 23. “We met people who know more about the food business than we thought possible. We swapped notes with grads just a few years older than us. We asked one of the world’s most respected CMOs what she would do in our shoes – casually, over dinner.”

The team now have a much better understanding of what they need to do next – and a good idea of who to call for advice. Their success is being built on the success of the Bath grads who went before them.
