Dragons’ Den opens to next round of student entrepreneurs
Thursday 29 November 2012.
Alumni Dr Richard Palmer (BSc Applied Biology 1973) and Hubert Velge (MSc Business Administration 1984) are luring students into the Dragons’ Den once again this autumn. The prize? A start-up fund to students who can pitch the best business plans and demonstrate genuine entrepreneurial flair.
Our Dragons will be sitting in the Den on Thursday 29 November all day from 11am, with up to £15,000 worth of funding available to help budding entrepreneurs launch their business ideas.
At the last event in May, four different student teams left the Den not only with £7,000 of funding between them to develop their ideas, but also armed with invaluable advice to guide them through the next stages of marketing their businesses.
The competition is open to all undergraduates and postgraduates.
To enter, record a one-minute film introducing your idea, upload it to a video-hosting website (eg YouTube) and email the link to the Enterprise team. The entries will be reviewed, and the best will be invited to pitch in front of the Dragons. The deadline for entries is midnight on Monday 19 November.
We’re inviting students to be in the audience too. If you’d like to support your friends or just find out more about the Dragons’ Den you’re welcome to come along to watch.
