Alumni reception at St James’s Palace

Thu Mar 05 11:59:00 GMT 2015

Our Chancellor, HRH The Earl of Wessex, hosted a reception for alumni and friends at St. James's Palace last week.

Over 450 guests travelled from as far afield as Australia, Japan and Canada to attend the event which took place in the Palace’s beautiful State Apartments.

The Chancellor started proceedings by welcoming everyone, before handing over to our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell.

The Vice-Chancellor spoke about some of the successes the University has enjoyed over the last 12 months, including our excellent REF results and topping the National Student Survey for student satisfaction for a second year running. She also outlined the many ways our alumni and friends have helped us achieve this, thanking them for their continued support.

Dame Glynis said, “The warmth and affection of so many graduates who have been through our doors is a source of constant encouragement to me. I know that by harnessing it we will make the University an even more wonderful place.”

Guests spent the rest of the evening chatting with the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor, and catching up with friends, old and new, over wine and canapés.
