E-news for the School of Management

September 2015

In what has been another outstanding year for the School of Management, I’m delighted to be able to share a few of the highlights with you.

The results of the Research Excellence Framework confirmed our position as one of the leading research-intensive business schools, with 84% of our research assessed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. Overall the School of Management was placed number 8 in the UK.

We joined the top 1 per cent of business schools worldwide when we received the highest accreditation status from EQUIS, the European Foundation for Management Development's (EFMD) quality inspectorate. Of the world’s 13,000 business schools only 83 hold five year EQUIS accreditation.

The School was ranked 1st place for Business and Management and 2nd place for Accounting and Finance in The Complete University Guide 2016. We were also ranked 2nd for Graduate Prospects in Business and Management, proving that our graduates are some of the most sought after in the country.

A personal highlight came at this year’s summer award ceremony where I had the honour of awarding inventor and entrepreneur, Rob Law MBE, an honorary degree. As founder of Trunki his determination and success are inspiring. This is made all the more remarkable by the fact that he has cystic fibrosis.

We never forget that our success is in part due to you, our alumni and friends, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have supported us over the years.

You can find out more about the work of the School of Management, along with news from across the University, in the following stories.

With best wishes,

Professor Veronica Hope Hailey
Dean and Head of the School of Management
