Postgraduate scholarships

George Muruka & Douglas Akaligaung As student debt rises, the pressure to go into industry to pay that debt off increases. Postgraduate scholarships allow us to keep the best minds in academia.

A particular area of need is in international postgraduate scholarships. The International Development Postgraduate Scholarship Fund attracts students from developing countries who can access and benefit from the expertise at Bath and then return home to put into practice what they have learned.

The programme has provided me with the requisite skills and tools to face the future, especially in my career in finance. I currently work with Union Rural Bank Ltd, Ghana, as Head of Credit. The role is challenging and I am poised to make a real impact in my credit delivery using all the knowledge acquired from my studies in the University of Bath, especially at the dissertation stage. I must say that my choice of dissertation topic made me get this job.

— Victor Atiase (MSc International Development 2008)

The International Development Postgraduate Scholarship Fund was kicked off with a gift of over £50,000 from a graduate:

I made this gift because I thought the Master’s in International Development course I attended and the teaching at the University of Bath were excellent. I hope that by making this gift it will help improve the international inclusiveness of such a great learning experience for postgraduate students who would not otherwise be able to come to the University, and that it will thereby benefit their countries upon their return home.
