The evening also provided 160 students with the opportunity to meet their fellow taught postgraduate scholars and enjoy the historical setting.
The University of Bath International Scholarship (UBISS) scheme was set up in the 2006/07 academic year. Alongside the elite awards offered by our faculties, it has grown to become a significant fund awarding in the region of £360,000 each year.
Through the generosity of our alumni and corporate donors, some of whom were guests at the reception, further scholarships have been made available. These include:
- the Santander scheme for students from Latin America
- the Jack Cater award for a Hong Kong University graduate
- the Steve Huckvale scholarship for candidates from Africa
- the Frank Wallace scholarship for a Chinese student of Mechanical Engineering
- the Windle Trust
We also thanked Mr and Mrs Hall, Diana Lanham and Chris Coles for their support and the Commonwealth Scholarships and Chevening Schemes. In her welcome speech, Caroline Baylon, Director of Partnerships and Head of the International Relations Office, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved, including benefactors and the University staff.
A special thank you goes to The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Bath, Councillor Paul Crossley, who gave a warm and well-received welcoming speech to our scholars and The Mayoress, Mrs Margaret Crossley.
