The University of Bath has a strong commitment to ensuring the mental health of our students and staff. We are making innovative changes to our services for students, including reducing waiting times, using engaging on-line tools and investing in Mental Health First Aid training for staff throughout the University. Across the sector a key component of good practice is to have a clearly articulated mental health strategy. The University and the Students’ Union have agreed to develop such a strategy which will articulate our commitments and set priorities for action.

We are delighted that we have secured the services of Dr Dominque Thompson to help us develop a Strategy that is both sector-leading and bespoke to the needs of the University of Bath. Dominique was Director of the University of Bristol Students’ Health Service for 7 years. In 2017 she was part of the working group that produced the landmark report on the state of the nation's student wellbeing "Not by Degrees: Improving Student Mental Health in the UK's Universities", and the Universities UK #stepchange Framework for universities "Mental Health in Higher Education".

Dominique has been consulting widely across the University. To ensure that the strategy is informed by the views of all staff we would like to offer you the opportunity to take part in a focus group.

We are running two focus groups on Thursday 8 March, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Links for booking are below:
