ahs opened The Patch for Open Day, Saturday 16 September.

The new vegetarian and vegan delicatessen is located in the former Writing Centre in 3 West on campus.

It will re-open again for students, staff and visitors on Monday 25 September 2017.

The healthy menu offers good quality vegetarian and vegan food including:

  • Salads
  • Sandwiches
  • Wraps
  • Soup
  • Blended vegetable juices
  • Hot drinks

The Patch provides healthy food options that are good for everyone involved, from field to fork.

The food from local suppliers includes:

  • Organic vegetables from Farrington’s Farm in Bristol
  • Salad leaves and herbs from The Severn Project near Bath and Bristol
  • Eggs from Castlemead Farm in Radstock
  • Organic milk and cream from Bruton Dairy in Somerset

Sourcing ingredients from local suppliers means less transportation and a reduced carbon footprint.

Due to the shorter supply chain, the food has more nutritional value, tastes better and means that producers receive fairer pay.

The opening of The Patch also helps to address one of the Top Ten Issues identified by the Students’ Union.

Feedback from students revealed a demand for healthier food options on campus. It also showed requests for more food options that cater for different dietary requirements.
