School of Management’s “Student of the Year” 2016

Deciding to join the Pre-sessional course was a significant step for me in preparing to take my Master’s degree.

Student story

Read one of our student stories to find out about the benefits of doing a Bath Pre-sessional English course.

Che-Cheng Lin, MSc Management with Marketing, outlines how PSM4 helped him develop and improve his language and study skills to make the most of his degree.

Why did you choose PSM4?

I thought I might not have the necessary academic writing skills in order to be successful in my MSc, so I wanted to learn how to use references and citations properly.

I also knew that Bath was one of the most beautiful historic places in the world and I had heard it is a safe place to live, so I wanted to come here.

What did you like most?

Not only did PSM4 give me a good grounding in academic writing, but it also trained me in different types of English pronunciation. This really helped me to make friends in Bath.

Would you recommend a pre-sessional course?

I think if I didn’t study PSM4, I would have experienced real problems during my MSc with my academic writing. Doing the Pre-sessional English course was a really significant step for me to prepare for my Master’s degree, so I would really recommend it to other students.

What are your career plans?

I want to set up my own technology business, which is why I decided to study MSc Management with Marketing at the University of Bath. I believe my course will give me the business knowledge I need to face the world’s challenges and achieve my goal of starting my own company.
