A new skills centre

Thu Nov 26 08:00:00 GMT 2015

From Professor Peter Lambert, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching)

I am pleased to announce the creation of a new skills centre for the University. This new skills centre was formed officially on Tuesday 24 November 2015 and brings together the Academic Skills Centre (ASC) and the Foreign Languages Centre (FLC) to operate as one independent entity reporting directly to me.

Maggie Ward Goodbody, formerly Director of the ASC, has become overall Director, with Isabella Stefanutti, Head of the FLC, joining Sarah Turpin, Head of Academic Skills Resources, Jo Lewis, Head of Pre-sessional and Miranda Armstrong, Head of Academic Skills Programmes, as a member of the Centre‚Äôs Management team.

The formation of this new skills centre is an exciting initiative that will allow us to enhance our provision of skills development for all our students – undergraduate and postgraduate alike. It provides a great opportunity to develop and integrate skills training into becoming a key asset of the University which supports the academic community more effectively.

The new centre will continue to have a physical presence on the Claverton campus in a number of locations, including Eastwood Lodge, the Writing Centre (on the Parade) and Level 7, Wessex House.
