Academic Skills programme What is on offer this Semester?

We offer a comprehensive programme of skills development for all students. Whether or not English is your first language, you can join classes to develop your academic skills to help you get the best out of your studies.

Our programme provides the opportunity for you to develop skills needed to achieve the most from your studies and for your future career development, and is free for all current students, whether you are an undergraduate or postgraduate, native or non-native speaker.

Registration is now open online for:

You may also wish to sign up for our blog, which also provides a range of advice on different academic skills.

You can access dedicated writing support, from our Writing Centre located on the Parade (opposite 4 West), which includes daily drop-in sessions during the Semester, one-to-one tutorials with a Writing Tutor (bookable online) and weekly, informal lunch-time sessions called Write Bites.

If you are a doctoral student, the Doctoral Writing Group (DWG) provides a dedicated space for a discrete focus on writing. Sessions take place fortnightly, on Tuesdays, 13.15 – 14.45 in 10 West 4.02, and typically consist of a stimulus for discussion, input on an aspect of writing, followed by participant-driven enquiry or peer review.
