Wessex Restaurant
the neighbourhood bistro
The Wessex Restaurant has long been the haunt of corporate events and hospitality but we’re now dusting down the venue and throwing open the doors, to welcome the neighbourhood into the bistro and offer a fresh dining experience.
The Wessex Restaurant is a neighbourhood bistro that no longer demands big-ticket prices - just tables, chairs, shiny glasses and a front-of-house team that knows what its doing. And that’s exactly what Restaurant Manager Guillermo Argibay does by leading the proceedings.
Santiago Carques is a talented chef who has been on something of a culinary journey, creating an international menu to suit the tastes of our diverse community. He wants to cook unfussy food, at decent prices to happy locals and be busy.
Wessex Restaurant has plush interiors and a fairly formal service (though in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere) with the kind of food that could win awards.
Santiago’s pedigree might lead you to expect an emphasis on Spanish ingredients and recipes – but he has ventured further afield and that's exactly what they're doing here. The menu is simple yet refined with oxtail soup and goat’s cheese tartlet, vegetable curry and spaghetti carbonara. The Specials menu changes daily with new dishes and deliveries of fresh ingredients. The desserts tick all the sweet boxes as well with strawberry and white chocolate espuma, dark chocolate torte and orange cappuccino.
Drop-by and try out our menu with the Express Lunch offer from 12.00 – 2.30pm and we promise to take you on a 30min bistro dining experience.
