Day Clock
People living with dementia can lose the ability to tell the time, even to the extent that they cannot distinguish between day and night. This can cause difficulties maintaining a daily routine.
Based on research we conducted with Occupational Therapists and carers we have identified that there is a need for a prompt which can provide a clear sense of which part of the day it is, e.g. "morning", "afternoon", "evening" or "night". Our design utilises a digital photoframe and slides which advance automatically, providing an attractive and cost effective display.
It is small and discreet and ideal to use alongside conventional clocks and calendars to provide a clear reminder as to what day it is and the time of day.

One Button Radio
The One Button Radio is designed for people with dementia and others who find standard radios difficult and complicated to operate. The station of choice and the required volume are set by the carer or relative and the secure cover is replaced.
Day-to-day operation is simply by pressing the red button to switch it on and off.

Wander Reminder
The BIME Wander reminder is a system to encourage time orientation for people with dementia by using verbal messages. It uses reliable and inexpensive technology that can be installed to suit the needs of individual situations.
The system is easy to install requiring no technical input. The verbal message is recorded and the minder is placed at the approach to the doorway. It can be left freestanding or hooked onto the wall. You can use batteries or plug the minder into the mains using the mains adaptor. The timer can be set to operate the minder only at key times eg. night time. Once the system is in position the infra red motion detector should be able to sense movement when the door is approached - this will trigger a short familiar pre-recorded verbal message.
