In December Dr Paula Kover worked with Chandag Junior School to organise their first 'Evolution Day'.

Participants of the Evolution Day at Chandag Junior School270 children and dozens of teachers spent the day immersed in evolution and inheritance related activities. Final year undergraduates developed the activities under the supervision of Paula.

Activities included matching puppies to their mums, unearthing dinosaurs and scrutinising the tree of life. Chandag's teachers now feel better prepared to teach these topics in the future. Our students got a valuable chance to gain experience in teaching and outreach activities.

In 2014, the Department of Education introduced evolution and inheritance as topics for year six science. Paula's research has shown that many local teachers feel unprepared to teach such topics.

As a result, Paula offers workshops and develops activities to support teachers in primary schools, in collaboration with Bath and North East Somerset Council. Paula is a member of the Milner Centre for Evolution.
