PhD programmes
Our PhD programme is for graduates who are aiming for a career in academic, Government, or industrial research. The PhD is a research degree that is assessed by submission of a thesis and externally examined.
We are currently advertising projects across a broad range of biological disciplines. Candidates who are seeking, or who have secured, their own funding are invited to apply at any time, however early applications are advised.
Students coming to do a PhD are normally registered for a MPhil degree and then transferred to the PhD course after one year.
Postgraduate students are offered a variety of practical training courses and are encouraged to attend international scientific meetings.

Integrated PhD
An alternative to the standard PhD is to undertake an Integrated PhD. This four year PhD programme includes a number of taught units to further increase the range of skills of our students.
