About our Forum (YouGuru)
What is YouGuru?
- YouGuru is a forum where you can ask questions and get answers about how to access the University IT services (e.g. eduroam, ResNet, email) with any devices not supported by us.
- It is easy to use, interactive and up-to-date. Check it out and visit YouGuru!
What devices can YouGuru help with ?
- Devices currently include smartphones, tablet computers, games consoles and Apple Mac
- Help for Windows machines can be accessed via the service desk.
Logging in
- Head over to YouGuru
- Click the yellow Log in link at the top of the page
- Click the Sign In button
- When the Single Sign-on window appears log in as you usually would
- A FastPass Login window will appear then automatically close
- You are now logged in
Posting
- Above the box near the top of the page you can leave Ask a question selected, or click Share an idea, Report a problem or Give praise, depending on what you want to post
- After you have selected the appropriate option, type your post into the box. Click Continue
- If your content is similar to that of existing posts Youguru will list a number of these. If you still want to post your content, click Nope. Finish posting my question
- On this page you are able to give your topic a title and provide additional details. Sometimes the title is automatically moved into the additional details section. If this happens, cut and paste your text back into the title box. For code which enables you to insert links, images, bold text, lists, etc. into the main text, click Some HTML allowed
- When you are done, click Post in the bottom right hand corner of the page
- Don’t forget you can select ‘Related Products and Services’, ‘Tag with Words’ and let users know how your post makes you feel
Email notifications
- YouGuru will send you emails about new replies on topics you have posted, replied to, or followed
- If you would like to disable this, once logged in, hover the cursor over your name at the top of the page
- Click Email & Notifications
- Click the checkbox to deselect it
