Auto deletion of recycle bin contents
On Friday 30 July BUCS are going to begin the weekly deletion of Active Directory Recycle Bin files that are more than 7 days old. This will apply to most University PCs however if you are unsure if this applies to you please see our instructions on how to check if you are on active directory.
The first batch of deletions will take place at 18.00 on Friday 30 July and will then continue to happen every Friday from this point forward.
This action is essential as we are close to the maximum available file space on one of our primary storage systems. We need to reduce the number of files to continue to offer a resilient service; regularly deleting the recycle bin will help us to reduce the number of stored files by 2.5%.
However, if you do find that you need a file that is no longer in your recycle bin you can recover files by using the Snapshots tool. See the BUCS web pages for instructions on recovering files.
