Windows 7 in all GTA rooms by induction week
Over summer 2011 Computing Services will be installing Windows 7 operating software on all the General Teaching Area (GTA) lecture room PCs. We have already updated all rooms in 3 East and 3WN and by the start of induction week on 26 September 2011 it is expected that all 100+ rooms will be running Windows 7.
The changeover is dependent on room availability and access during the summer. However, the intention is to convert all GTA lecture rooms, in entire buildings, whereever possible.
Announcements will be made when areas are completed. Windows 7 has been tested on the GTA rooms PCs and presentations made on older software should be backwards compatible.
Rooms will be made available for lecturers to try out their presentations and they are encouraged to do so as soon as possible before the start of Semester, to minimise disruption to lectures, contact AV bookings for details.
If you teach / lecture in any of these rooms and would like to give feedback on all the software that you would like us to make available for your use, please fill in the online survey at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PQ9YQCN
If you are unsure if you use one of the GTA rooms, please see the list of rooms on the timetabling website.
If you would like more information on Windows 7 or Office 2010 training materials please see the IT Training website.
