Removal of BUCS-WISM from Campus (Excl Library) from 18 July
Computing Services are rolling out eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) as the recommended wireless
service for all the University users over the next couple of months, alongside this we are retiring
the less secure service BUCS-WISM.
As part of this
BUCS-WiSM has now been removed from all the University of Bath residences.
For more information about connecting to eduroam see the
Connecting to eduroam
pages.
What if you cannot connect your wireless device to eduroam?
- BUCS-WiFi - If your device is not eduroam compatible (devices such as Kindle, PS3, Xbox 360) and you have a University of bath Account you can use BUCS-WiFi. For more info please see the BUCS-WIFI page.
- BTOpenzone - If you do not have a university account you can use BTOpenzone which is free for people who already have a BT account – or visitors can pay on demand. For more information please see the BTOpenzone page
Eduroam has been running for some time now and as well as being more secure than other methods of wireless on campus, eduroam is a free way to allow staff, researchers and students of one organisation to use the wireless Internet at another participating organisation without needing to apply for a temporary username and password.
For more information on eduroam see the eduroam website.
