Java update recommended
---update 31 August 2012 1.35pm--- Java upgrade across university computers completed.
31 August 2012 9.30am - due to a security risk in Java we are taking steps to push out the latest release (1.7.7) as soon as possible and blocking updates to earlier releases.
We are taking these steps because of the security vulnerabilities that have been identified in Oracle Java in versions up to 1.7.6. Oracle have released a security alert and are recommending that customers apply the updates provided as soon as possible.
In response to this we are working on packaging, testing and deploying the latest 1.7.7 release across university computers.
This work will not affect your use of university computers.
If you use Java, or have not disabled it, on your own devices (mobile or at home), please take a look at the Oracle recommendations and apply the updates provided as soon as possible.
