IT literacy success, 2013
A celebration of the successful pilot of the European Computer Driving Licence has taken place. The pilot ran during academic year 2012 - 2013.
ECDL is an internationally recognised digital literacy qualification.
The pilot was led by Kathy Halson for Bath University Computing Services (BUCS). The value of the training is clear when you look at the course feedback from those who gained the certificate (100% pass rate).
- "The qualification was very worthwhile and I definitely feel much more confident in using the new IT skills I have obtained."
- "It was a worthwhile course and I am glad I took part. It has helped me in my day to day job role and made me more efficient. So mission accomplished."
- "The course improved my usage of the software significantly, I wish I had this training at the start of my undergraduate degree. I feel if I did this course then my productivity would have significantly improved and possibly the quality of my work as well. I hope in future years undergraduate students can have the opportunity to participate in this course before they need the skills learnt in the course for their chosen degree."
- "I enjoyed the course so much that I’d like to continue learning if the opportunity came up."
ECDL IT User Skills
The students received credits in four units:
- Improving Productivity Using IT

- Presentation Software
- Spreadsheet Software
- Word Processing Software
If you are interested in taking the ECDL in academic year 2013 - 2014, please email it-training@bath.ac.uk. We are collecting a waiting list whilst we seek funding to continue with ECDL.
