New Guidelines for Purchase & Use of Mobile Devices, July 2013
Bath University Computing Services (BUCS) have published Guidelines for the Acquisition and Use of Devices and Tariffs for the Provision of Mobile Communications for staff at the University.
The financial policy on mobile communication devices, Procedures for Finance University Policy UP4, has also been revised.
Who does this affect?
All staff who have a University owned mobile device - The
University recognises that some staff need mobile devices to carry out their work responsibilities
to the best effect. All staff who use a University owned mobile device are covered by
the
Guidelines for the Acquisition and Use of Devices and Tariffs for the Provision of Mobile
Communications
.
Future owners of a University bought mobile device - One important change to the procedure for purchasing a mobile device for work purposes will be that ITP will require a signed copy of the Section 9 - Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions for the Guidelines.
These guidelines are intended both to clarify the terms and conditions around the issue and use of mobile devices and to indicate ways in which mobile technology could assist in more flexible working in the future. The guidelines will enable the following audiences to manage and support their staff.
-
Heads of Department who are required to approve the issue of mobile communication
devices
- Administrative staff who are responsible for the ordering and financial side of these devices in their departments
