ITIL V3 Foundation Qualification in IT Service Management
**This course is currently only available to staff from Computing Services**
ITIL® is the most widely accepted approach to IT service management in the world, providing a cohesive set of best practice, drawn from the public and private sectors across several countries.
The Foundation Level is the entry level qualification which offers a general awareness of the key elements, concepts and terminology used in the ITIL V3 Service Lifecycle, including the links between Lifecycle stages, the processes used and their contribution to Service Management practices.
Why should I take ITIL Foundation?
After completing the course you can expect to gain a general overview of ITIL. Successful completion of the Foundation exam offers a recognised qualification and fulfils the prerequisite entry criteria for ITIL V3 Intermediate Level courses.
Is it right for me?
This course is aimed towards:
- Those who require a basic understanding of the ITIL framework;
- Those who need understanding of how ITIL can be used to enhance the quality of IT service management;
- IT professionals or others working within an organisation that has implemented ITIL techniques and who therefore need to be informed about, or contribute to an ongoing service improvement programme.

Routes Through ITIL
For Computing Services Staff there are three routes through ITIL Foundation
- Complete a set of compulsory modules as determined by your line manager
- Complete all modules to gain an overall understanding of ITIL
- Complete all modules and sit the ITIL Foundation exam to gain a recognised qualification - exam fees are payable from team budgets or by an individual.
Mode of Delivery
Each session is a two hour self-paced workshop, however you are welcome to leave at anytime during the 2 hours if you prefer to do more shorter sessions.
To complete all modules takes around 18 hours (9 Sessions), the course is completly flexible so can be started at any point throughout the year.
