Macros

  • A macro is a piece of code that can be used to generate an object such as a calendar or chart, panelled text effects or other complex formatting.
  • Macros are typed within curly brackets.
  • There is a Macro Browser to help you insert the code.

If you could not see the macro you wanted in any of the categories listed in the Macro browser you would:
       
Activate the context menu.
Write the macro yourself.
Use the Search box in the Select Macro window..

The macro code:
       
Appears in curly brackets.
Only appears on the Wiki Markup tab.
Appears in square brackets.

Look at the pages in the windows below for further information.

If you can see a 'Login to University Wiki' prompt in any of the windows, you need to log in to the wiki in order to view the page in that window.

IDevice Icon Activity: Insert macros

Throughout this exercise, keep your wiki space in a separate window that is open in your browser. (This will enable you to keep this tutorial open in the other window at the same time.)
If you have not already done so, go to this web address https://wiki.bath.ac.uk/dashboard.action
Log in to the wiki.
  1. Open your Home page in your Personal Space.
  2. From the menu on the left, open the page called Macros. (This page should have been created in an earlier exercise. If you do not have a Macros page, then create a new page called Macros now.)
  3. Click the Edit button to edit your page.
  4. Click the Insert/Edit Macro button.
  5. Practice browsing the categories on the left, then insert any Macros of your choice.
  6. Save and view the page each time to see how the macros work.

Use the menu on the left to navigate your way to the next page.
