University of Bath

Architecture applicant visit days

We run visit days for our undergraduate degree offer holders on select days in March and April. Find out why you should attend one.

Prospective students examine architecture brochures and models
During our applicant visit days you will have the opportunity to take part in a design exercise with our current students.

After you receive an offer to study one of our undergraduate courses, we will invite you to one of our applicant visit days by email. We usually run these between March and April. You will be able to choose which day you would like to attend, but it's best to book on early as dates can fill up fast. We'll provide you with all the information you need about travelling here, accessibility and eating requirements in your invitation email.

Gain better insight into your course

We have structured the day so you have plenty of opportunities to informally ask questions and talk with staff and students. You'll find out what architecture is about, what it is like to be a student at Bath and even experience a mini architectural design project. Throughout the day you will get to know students from different year groups, so you will get a real insight into how your knowledge and ability will develop during your degree.

Your day will begin with a talk by our Director of Studies. They will tell you more about how our courses are structured and assessed, the topics you will study and our placements scheme.

Our first-year students will take you on a tour of our Department. This will include the design studio spaces and computer suites where you will develop your work. We'll take you to the fourth year studios where you can see the individual projects our final-year students are working on.

Towards the end of day you will take part in a design exercise with our final-year students. Working in groups you will develop a design idea, build a model and present this work back to the other groups. This is a taster of how you will develop architectural solutions in your career one day.

Get a feel for campus and city life

Taking a self-guided tour around campus is a great chance to see what the University is like on a typical day and experience the atmosphere of students and staff going about their business.

Campus life isn't just about studying and there are many ways that you can make the most of your university experience. We'll provide you with a map so you can visit our Sports Training Village (STV), where you'll have access to the same facilities used by Olympic athletes. You can see our Students' Union, which houses the Student Centre, food outlets and the campus pub and night club. You can also visit The Edge, our arts centre where you can take dance, art and music classes.

The city of Bath is only 10 minutes away by bus so we advise our guests to take the opportunity to visit the city after their day with us has finished.

Are you unable to attend an open day?

We offer you a range of dates so that you can choose to attend one that best suits you. If you don't live in the UK, we understand it may be difficult to visit the University on the dates given. If you contact our Department, we will do our best to arrange an individual visit for you with our Admissions tutor.
