Commis Chef

Our hospitality department caters for students, staff and external customers during the academic year and the summer months.

We run many bars and eateries that offer a range of high quality food and drink options. We ensure that all cleanliness and health and safety standards are met.

We are recruiting for a Commis Chef to support our chefs within the Sports Cafe and CAFE at The Edge.

We're looking for someone that has experience as a junior chef and a passion for cooking high quality food.

An NVQ in Food Preparation would be a distinct advantage.

You should:

  • be comfortable working under pressure
  • have a positive attitude
  • be able to make effective working relationships with other team members
  • be comfortable working in different environments

You will be working early mornings, evenings and weekends, on a five out of seven days per week contract.

Food and Beverage Assistant

Chef de Partie

We're looking for a motivated and passionate chef to join our kitchen team.

You'll need:

  • experience of cooking high quality food
  • excellent standards of customer service
  • knowledge of food hygiene regulations
  • relevant NVQ or equal qualifications
  • experience of supervising junior kitchen staff
  • health and safety knowledge
  • to show you can form effective relationships with team members
  • to be able to stay calm under busy, pressured peak times

Hospitality Supervisor

We’re proud to offer an excellent standard of customer service across our bars and eateries.

We’re looking for a Hospitality Supervisor to work with our team to help continue to deliver this high standard of service.

You’ll also need experience of supervising and training other members of staff.

We’re looking for some who can:

  • work well in a team
  • train other team members
  • manage staff rotas
  • follow financial regulations
  • meet standards in health and safety and food hygiene
  • show that you can remain calm under pressure during very busy peak periods
  • have experience in relevant healthy and safety and licensing

Domestic Assistant

You’ll need to have exceptionally high standards of cleaning and strive for excellence at all times.

During term time you’ll be cleaning in student accommodation, which then transforms into a 4000 bedroom hotel in the summer months.

This isn’t just all about cleaning though… you’ll be a friendly face to our customers and help them where possible.

We’re interested in your personality, whether you can offer a warm welcome and be a team player.

No previous cleaning experience is needed as we will provide full training.

This position is available as full-time and part-time roles.

Retail Assistants

We are looking for retail assistants to join our Fresh grocery store on our thriving campus.

You'll need to make sure you give every customer friendly, professional and high quality service.

We're looking for people who take real pride in their performance and have good communication skills.

You will also need to positively overcome challenges in a busy retail environment.

You will need to:

  • maintain a customer focused approach at all times
  • ensure products and displays are looking their best
  • make sure products in the shop are well stocked
  • run daily stock checks
  • help with store objectives making sure that you stick to procedures at all times

We currently serve over 22,000 customers a week during term time and continue to grow.

We currently have two full-time positions:

  • one 52 weeks a year
  • one 30 weeks a year, term-time only

The role is working five days a week with different shifts between 6am to 11.30pm and some weekends.
