Introduction to Mindfulness course
A free six week course during Semester One giving the opportunity to sample a variety of mindfulness skills and meditation practices. Open to all students.
This course offers the opportunity to sample a variety of mindfulness skills and meditation practices which will help train the mind to:
- step out of the busyness of everyday life
- step out of autopilot
- step back from the torrent of thoughts and emotions and make wise choices
- relate to thoughts differently
The intention of the course is to develop your ability to be more aware of your moment by moment experience and it requires a commitment from you to regular home practice. This can open you to both the pleasurable and perhaps more challenging parts of your emotional life.
Once you have registered your interest in the course you will be asked to attend an individual meeting with the facilitator to see whether the course is right for you at this time.
The sessions last for 90 minutes for the first session and 75 minutes for the remaining sessions. Full attendance is required and numbers are limited.
Dates and times
The course takes place on campus on Thursdays starting on Thursday 2 November 2017 until Thursday 7 December 2017, starting at 2.30pm.
