Introduction to Mindfulness summer course for postgraduates

A free six week course over the summer giving the opportunity to sample a variety of mindfulness skills and meditation practices.

This course offers the opportunity to sample a variety of mindfulness skills and meditation practices which will help train the mind to:

  • step out of the busyness of everyday life
  • step out of autopilot
  • step back from the torrent of thoughts and emotions and make wise choices
  • relate to thoughts differently

The intention of the course is to develop your ability to be more aware of your moment by moment experience and it requires a commitment from you to regular home practice. This can open you to both the pleasurable and perhaps more challenging parts of your emotional life. It is important that you really want to do this and therefore, once you have registered your interest in the course you will be asked to attend an individual meeting with the facilitator to see whether the course is right for you at this time.

The sessions last for 90 minutes for the first session and 75 minutes for the remaining sessions. Full attendance is required.

Dates and times

There are two courses, one on Wednesday afternoons in the Virgil Building, Bath city centre; and one on Thursday mornings on campus.

The course on Wednesdays in the Virgil Building starts on Wednesday 14 June 2017 until Wednesday 19 July 2017. The start time is 3.15pm.

The course on Thursdays on campus starts on Thursday 15 June 2017 until Thursday 20 July 2017. The start time is 10.30am.
