Language learning opportunities for students and members of staff
Find out what options you have to learn and develop foreign language skills.
Choosing the right language learning option for you
We take pride in our international campus, and are committed to supporting students and staff in developing language and intercultural skills.
attend a weekly language course
find a one-to-one language partner via our language exchanges
You can choose to use all or any of these options.
Attend a language class
Our language classes are a popular choice for language learners.
There are many benefits in learning as part of a group:
you will be led by an experienced teacher
you will follow a well-designed programme of study
having a scheduled engagement will ensure that you study each week
you will have opportunities to interact with other students, which will develop your language skills further
you can network, and even make friends, with the other students
Access our self-study resources
You can access our self-study resources, located in the Language Learning Zone, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This is a great way for you to learn or develop a language if you:
cannot commit to a scheduled time for your class each week
want the flexibility to tailor your language studies to your individual needs and learning style
want to learn a language outside term time or are interested in studying a language not offered in our classes
Find a language partner
We can help you to find a native or near-native speaker of the language that you are learning.
By finding a language partner, you will:
be able to develop your speaking skills
be able to learn new vocabulary and expressions
become more confident in using your foreign language
learn about a different culture and develop your intercultural competence
