Looking for a sandwich placement?
- Your department has a placement officer who is your primary source of help in arranging your placement. If you don't know who your placement officer is, please ask in your department or at our reception, or see the contacts list online (a page aimed at placement employers).
- Many of our services are not designed to help specifically with placement support, but with some lateral thinking you could find them useful.
Finding placement vacancies
We pass on all discipline-specific placement vacancies to the relevant placement staff in your department.
Placement vacancies which we receive are also advertised on MyFuture - go to browse vacancies and select view all under the sandwich placements category.
In addition:
- Our leaflet The Creative Job Search will help you find opportunities that may not be advertised - collect a copy or view it via the jobs after graduation page.

Finding out about specific employers and working overseas
When assessing which placement opportunity to apply for it is useful to check out details of the placement organisation and the job role on offer. Some of the most interesting placements are outside the UK however, overseas opportunities are in shorter supply than UK vacancies. Country-specific information, especially details of application procedures, is worth looking at so that you are as well prepared as possible for pursuing your placement goals. You should also carefully consider your back up options.
- To research overseas opportunities, read our leaflet on Finding Work Abroad - view it online.
- We have employer information to help you find employers in the sectors which interest you - see Find out about employers.
- Some of our reference books may help, e.g. on working overseas or researching occupations - see the catalogue.
Applications and interviews
Obtaining a placement is competitive and therefore your application needs to be as strong as possible.
- We can help you with your applications and interviews. You can get one-to-one help, and look at the applications and interviews pages.
- To see what resources we have to help you write your CV, see the CV section in the resources catalogue.
- If you want to do some interview preparation, see the interviews section in the resources catalogue.
- Look out for relevant workshops in the Skills
