What support can I get from my department?
The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering offers its research postgraduates a lot of support in choosing and preparing for a future career. Throughout your studies a wide-ranging generic skills training programme is available and you are strongly encouraged to take up as much as you can. See your Postgraduate Research Student's Handbook for more information on the general support offered by your department. External events which might be of interest are also highlighted as they are arranged.
Those of you wishing to pursue a career in academia are welcome to approach the academics in your department for their valuable inside knowledge! Useful contacts can also be made by attending the regular research seminars and talking with the speakers.
If you have any questions about the career development support offered by your department or faculty, please contact Ruth Burdett, the Graduate School Manager, or Mark Wilson Jones, the Director of Studies for Research Postgraduate Students. For more general information, see the pages for current postgraduates.
