What support can I get from my department?

The Department of Biology & Biochemistry offers its research postgraduates a lot of support in choosing and preparing for a future career. As part of your first year you will complete some or all of the Research Training Unit (RTF file - 75 kb), which includes modules on CV writing, interview tips, and research in a commercial environment. External events which might be of interest are also highlighted as they are arranged. Throughout your studies a wide-ranging generic skills programme is available and you are strongly encouraged to take up as much as you can.

If you have any questions about the career development training offered by your department and faculty, please contact Dr. Emma Lawrence, the Graduate School Deputy Manager. For more general information, see the pages for current postgraduates. You might also find the Science Graduate School and University pages relating to skills training useful.
