What support can I get from my department?
The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering offers its research postgraduates a lot of support in choosing and preparing for a future career. Throughout your studies a wide-ranging generic skills training programme is available and you are strongly encouraged to take up as much as you can. See your Postgraduate Handbook for more information on the general support offered by your department. External events which might be of interest are also highlighted as they are arranged.
Those of you wishing to pursue a career in academia are welcome to approach the academics in your department for their valuable inside knowledge! Useful contacts can also be made by attending research seminars and talking with the speakers.
If you have any questions about the career development support offered by your department, please contact Ruth Burdett, Graduate School Manager, or Dr. Pedro Estrela, the Director of Studies for Postgraduate Research. For more general information, see the pages for current postgraduates. You might also find the Faculty of Design and Engineering and University pages relating to skills training useful.
