The programme codes assigned to programmes which are starting or continuing in the 1998/99 academic year are made up of ten alphanumeric characters (e.g., UFTMECH001) in the following manner:


1st character differentiates UG or PG or CE (non-credit bearing)

2nd character differentiates
Mode of Attendance (i.e., the normal way the programme as a whole is undertaken/delivered)

3rd character differentiates predominantly Taught or Research
T

Taught
Research
4th-7th characters differentiate owning Department/School, or
Faculty if a cross-departmental programme, or
UNIV if a cross-faculty programme
Departmental code (e.g. PSYC for Psychology), or

Faculty code (e.g. HASS for Humanities & Social Sciences), or

UNIV for a cross-Faculty programme such as Natural Sciences
8th-10th characters Three-digit numeric starting at 001
