Factual texts will extend students' knowledge and appreciation of various cultural, social, economic and political issues in countries where the target language is spoken. In addition to developing overall linguistic proficiency, one hour a week will be spent on improving students' ability to manipulate the target language by translating short texts from English into the target language and related activities, including contrasting analysis of grammar systems, vocabulary extension activities and additional reading.
