Programme & Unit Catalogues

Background to Programme & Unit Catalogues

Programme and Unit catalogues have been prepared for use across the University since 1997/8. In earlier years, this was done only for undergraduate programmes, but with effect from 2001/2 details of many postgraduate programmes have been covered.

In 1997/8 most of the components (units) within programmes of study were offered in a modular framework for the first time. In addition, the academic year was divided into two semesters, in order to provide an appropriate period over which to offer each unit.

New programme and unit codes were introduced from 2002/3. Further details of these codes can be found in the programme coding structure and unit coding structure tables.

From 2008/09 the University is introducing a new academic framework of assessment regulations which will govern most undergraduate degree programmes which has necessitated changes to the structure of the undergraduate programme catalogues.
